I love the game we play with our minds, don’t you? We walk into a room knowing there was a purpose for why we went in there, but the moment we hit the threshold that purpose just suddenly exits our minds as if to say, “Nope, gonna make you look like a fool!” So, we stand there looking around wonderin’ what was it we came in there for. Or how about when we, in the middle of a story, cannot for the life of us remember the person who played such in such a movie that we saw last week, only the day after for it comes to our minds. Our mind is pretty tricky and what fun it seems to have with us!
Funny though how still yet again, while we are in the midst of a difficult situation and we start the “If only God would do this, and only if God would do that.” We forget His past victories in our lives and the power He displayed in our most weakest moments. If we could just hold on to those during our trials as if to put a mirror to them and show the goodness of our Lord and how time after time He has been there, even in our whinyness, we could walk through them much easier, but we forget. It is only when someone might point His goodness out or the prompting of the Holy Spirit that stirs those memories forward in our minds.
I find it so energizing when I am able to find those memories, pull them forward and start praising my God for all that he has done, and hasn’t done, in my life, especially during the hard times. “Well, I just don’t feel like praising God when I am having a difficult time” you say, well, I am sure you don’t no more than Paul wanted to while he was sitting in prison facing death. We are such a spoiled & blessed people. We truly have not a clue what “real tribulations” are so it amazes me when I see people who complain about their lives. Complaining or whining about a situation you are in brings nothing to the table except an open door for the enemy to come in and finish what your mouth has already started! Open your heart and mouth and start proclaiming the goodness of the One that has brought you out of your mess…these may help get you started 🙂
Proverbs 3:3 says “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart…”
Romans 12:12 says “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 says “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
I promise if you are facing a difficult situation, first give it God, and start praising Him for the outcome he has already provided and then watch your attitude and demeanor turn from a “Woe is me” to “Woah, God is good” attitude! It never fails with me…you can’t be praising God and be focused on your problem…one of them has to bow out and the last time I checked God doesn’t bow out of anything! So, just keep praising, just keep praising and watch your problems swim away 🙂
