I remember hearing it, “If you live in my house, you will obey my rules.” We have heard all the “famous” phrases our parents once , or for me, many, said to us while growing up, but none has stuck with me more than that one. We think the “rules” are just too hard, unreasonable, and that our parents are just making them up to give us a hard time. I would clash with them on a weekly basis because I would want to do what I wanted to, how I wanted to do, and when I wanted to do it…I was just so darn stubborn and independant and let us not forget, I knew everything! Little did I know all those rules were there to protect me, mold me, and instill in me the morals and values I have today, but boy what a fight I put up 🙂
As with our parents, our heavenly Father has many rules for His house, but we are just so stubborn, independant, wanting to do things our way, not His. We think He is being hard on us and unreasonable when really all He is trying to do is protect us, mold us, and instill things in us that are going to teach us things we need that will help us to live a victorious life! And yet, we clash, we resist Him thinking we can do it on our own, we don’t need help..besides we know everything!
Let me just give you a couple words of truth today…you don’t know half of what you think you do. This life we live is a tough one and if you have been facing struggle after struggle, wondering why, it isn’t because God has been off His throne it is because you haven’t allowed Him on yours! In His house there are many rooms, and thankfully through His son will eventually enjoy that house, but you have to obey the rules and His ways along the way if you want to live abundantly now…doing it your way just isn’t gonna cut it anymore!
Let me encourage you to take inventory of your life and to which “rules” you seem to keep disobeying. Ask God to help you, come into your life, and help you to obey His “rules” because trust me, you can’t do it on your own. I mean sure you can go about this life doing it your way and being your own “rule maker” but let me just tell you that you are missing out on the best room in “Da house!”
Scriptures to chew on:
John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
Job 36:11 “If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.”
2 Corinthians 10:5
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
