The to do list of a stay home mom never ends as with many other occupations. One of my not so favorite to do list chore is folding and putting away laundry. I am all for putting it in the washer machine and into the dryer, but the whole folding and putting away is not on my top favorite list. Well, one day when I had gotten a load out of the dryer I placed it in a laundry basket so I could get to it when I had a chance. When I finally got around to folding the clothes it had been at least twenty or so minutes. I pulled each piece of clothing out one by one and to my surprise they were still quite warm, but as I plucked them one by one away from the each other they began to lose their warmth and became colder. As with each of us as we fellowship with like-minded and Christ centered people we stand stronger together keeping the bond of Christ warm in our hearts, but as 1 Peter 5:8 states “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
I can definitely relate to the above scenario. I was going to church, but not in fellowship with other believers, still thinking that if I just went to church, heard the message, but still stayed “on my own” I would be fine. But see, the enemy knows our weaknesses and he prowls around looking for one of us who is “out on our own” to devour while others he is waiting for that opportune time to pluck one of us from the close-knit bond we share. In Ecclesiastes 4:12 the Word of God states “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” When one of us is plucked from this cord I hear many believers start gossiping on the change in lifestyle of that plucked believer, start judging that plucked believer, or worse write them off completely with no prayer supplications on their behalf. All three need repentance and instead those who witness a “strand” plucked need to immediately be in prayer for them and let them know in a loving manner they are always there no matter what. One of my favorite quotes I have seen recently is “Go ahead and judge, just make sure you are perfect the rest of your life!”
We are so quick to judge or place them on the shelf when in fact when a believer is plucked it is time to get down to some major praying on their behalf because it is then more than ever that they need it. When the enemy comes in like that it can either mean two things: One, God is about to use them in a huge way, or two, God needs to purify them even more for something better he has for them in the future.
I encourage you if you are one of those “on your own” kinda of people you find strains of like-minded and Christ centered people and become that cord spoken of in Ecclesiastes. Therefore, when storms come, and trust me they will, you are not easily plucked from his grip!
